18-year-old Bethany Cruickshank was devastated by the death of her husky a year ago. THE’pet who she grew up with died last year, when she had promised him that they “would be together forever”.
To hold his promise, she decided to do herself tattoo his dog’s paw print, using ink mixed with the ashes of the husky. Watch the video for photos of her tattoo.
His dog accompanied him since his childhood
Bethany was only 6 years old when her parents decided toadopt Mika, a cute little husky. Throughout her childhood, then throughout her adolescence, Bethany confided in Mika, she played with Mika, she consoled herself with Mika, who played a little the role of her best friend. So she found herself devastated when she brutally lost her last year. “She was wild at first, but with a lot of love and training she had grown into the perfect dog. I loved him so much, ”recalls Bethany.
To mourn, she gets tattooed with the ashes of the husky
“As she was cremated, I researched if there was a way to make jewelry from her ashes, but it was too expensive. It was then that I read that we could use the ashes in tattoo ink. And I knew immediately that I wanted to do that, but I had to wait until I was 18 ”. Luckily the veterinary had the idea of making an imprint of Mika’s paw when she died. Bethany therefore went to the tattoo artist who made him the replica of the imprint, using the special ink. “My family and friends were a little shocked but they supported my idea. Now I even have friends who say they will do the same. Of course, by revealing the photos of her tattoo on social networks, she also received a lot of criticism. The memorial tattoosmade based on a tiny dose of ash which is mixed with the ink solution, before being injected into the skin. “Doing this makes so much more sense to me than leaving a urn on the edge of the fireplace. In the end, it does not concern anyone. It is my body and my choice ”.
